CLASSES FOR ALL AGES & ABILITIES

Beginner to Advanced

Boise Fencing Club offers classes for ages 6 through adult in Foil and Epee. We work with beginners through advanced level fencers. Our goal is to meet the needs of our community whether that be as a recreational fencer or someone who wants to compete at the highest levels. Most importantly it is about learning the sport of fencing and having fun.

In addition we offer school programs including offering fencing through Boise State University as a Kinesiology Activities class . We are continuing to grow our programs so please contact us if you know of anyone interested in adding fencing to their offerings.

Mini Musketeers

For our youngest fencers we offer the Mini-Musketeers class. The ages for this class are 6 through 8 years old. While we work with the kids to develop their skills in: footwork, blade work, tactics, conditioning and mental skills; the main goal is developing the kid’s motor skills and having fun. By using games we can help the students learn how to move their bodies in a fun and engaging way. The goal here is not who won or who lost but learning good sportsmanship and being a good teammate.

Recreational

As a new fencer, you will learn all the fundamentals of fencing throughout the class. You can expect to learn: footwork, blade work, tactics, conditioning and mental skills. We offer several class times per week for foil and epee. The athlete can attend any or all classes that are best suited to their schedule. Lessons are not required, but encouraged if the athlete is interested in improving their skills more quickly or if they plan to move to the Pre-Competitive or Competitive level.

Competitive

The Competitive level is our most comprehensive program and is designed for those athletes who want to compete on a regular basis and have goals to compete and achieve points on the regional or national level and/or to fence for a college team. This program will require athletes to commit to a dedicated training, lesson and competition schedule. It is also necessary for athletes in this program to own all equipment necessary for competition. Travel will also be necessary to attend competitions.
